Cross Cultural Commission Statement 2008

On the President’s Easter Message – What is the truth of Easter?

Stand firm in the faith, be men and women of courage

In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” George Orwell wrote it more than fifty years ago, in the middle of history’s most destructive century of wars. It is now the attention-grabbing headline for the up-coming ACC second national conference in November.

A novel vision for the Uniting Church

As usual, God’s Word makes the matter clear for us. Colossians 3:5 “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.” All Christians are united in the Church, Christ’s body, by their gratitude to Christ for their salvation, and their ongoing striving for sanctification.  Making God’s church oxygen – like a novel’s excitement - is idolatry.

Pray in the name of ....... whom?

Well, God has already given us his name to use. We already know what that is. The name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit is holy and our salvation depends on it: If we confess with our hearts that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in our hearts, we will be saved.

max3_400Rev. Dr Max Champion at Emmanuel Church, Cairns, on 25 March 2007

‘In Christ Jesus you are all sons and daughters of God through faith. For as many of you as were baptised into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.’ (Galatians 3:26-28)
