"He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognise him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:10-12).
The world did not accept Jesus but rather rejected the Son wanting to be its own authority. And yet, miraculously some did receive Him as the Spirit worked in power drawing them to Him. And to those who received Him He gave the right to become children of God. It is amazing that through His sheer love, the Father, saved the very ones who rejected Him. "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" (1 John 3:1).
From the beginning the purpose human beings were made for was to be His children. We rejected this purpose and looked in many other places to find our meaning but we only ever find peace in this life when we know the Father and that we are His beloved children. As Christians we must again and again find our peace in this as we easily get distracted into thinking that the things we do for God are our purpose for life. What joy it is to know the Father!
