Daniel 1: 17

11th June 2015

"To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds." (Daniel 1:17).
Daniel and his friends were being trained and taught by those who worshipped foreign gods and idols. They were being taught the religion and culture of the Babylonians - and yet it is clear that it was God who was teaching these young men. Even through the teaching of pagans God was bringing His truth to these young men.
This gives us great confidence as our young people are taught in schools and universities and adults are taught in all sorts of courses by people who reject the living God. He is still ruling and He is the great teacher. Human beings cannot stop the all powerful God from doing His work.
God's wisdom is far and above the wisdom of this world and is actually foolishness to the world. This wisdom is based on the message of salvation that comes through Jesus alone. Paul said, "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18). The world cannot discover God's wisdom through its brilliance - it is revealed and He Himself is our teacher.
