"For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." (Psalm 103:11-12).
It is a terrible thing when we are consumed with memories of something we have done wrong. Often it seems that the things we do wrong hurt only ourselves but sometimes we do things that bring great hurt and pain to others and it is impossible to do anything to reverse the problem. We live with many regrets and time does not heal these, in fact, time can increase our bondage.
Other memories that enslave us are those things that others have done to us. With these things we feel we are right to hold onto unforgiveness but again we suffer as we bring these to mind.
What if God in His great love brought a once for all cleansing, washing, purifying, total forgiveness. What if He chucked all of the old guilts and regrets as far away as East is from West? Through the cross Jesus has done this and we can live in the freedom of being new people - the old has gone. Our memories can be washed and their power removed as we live filled with the Holy Spirit.
