SA ACC Movement News
Greetings to all in the confessing fellowship ACC-SA
For the second half of last year Don Purdey was our acting Convener for the SA State Movement. For 2011 we have a leadership group within the SA ACC Movement who will co-ordinate and arrange a variety of meetings and seminars throughout the Adelaide area and also regional areas.
The 2011 SA ACC AGM was held on 22 July at Glenunga Uniting Church. David de Lima from "Family Voice" addressed the gathering on "Finding a way through the great Australian marriage debate".
The SA ACC state report and National Report prepared by Rev. Rod James is available now as a PDF document. Download here.
Regional Events
Over the last two years we have held a number of regional events which we called ‘Dig Here' days. In these we took the theme of Confessing Christ from the Basis of Union.
If you would like to have the DVD of one of these seminars for viewing by your family or study group, they are available from the secretary for $13.00, please contact him through i_scroft@chariot.net.au or ring (08) 8289 2627.
This year we have decided to call our seminars Living Waters days and take the theme of Christian marriage and Family.
Already we have held a very encouraging Emerging Leaders Award weekend, as well as the annual Prayer Retreat, and most recently our Living Waters day which was a Combined HopeNet/ACC event held at Port Augusta on 24th and 25th of June with the theme, Christ's Living Gospel, Today (and considering Christian Marriage and Family). It is hoped that papers from the day will be included in the ACC magazine or made more widely available during the rest of the year.
Northern Suburbs Cluster meetings
The monthly meetings held by this group in 2010 provided a vigorous opportunity for study, sharing and encouragement. They will be continued this year and details can be obtained from Les and Joan Knowling on 8162 5959.
What is a confessing movement?
Finally let me say something about a confessing movement which comes in answer to the question, "What is the ACC doing?" As you can see above, there are things that ACC is doing, both nationally and here in SA. However, the question, "What is the ACC doing?" is actually the wrong question if you or your congregation are members of the ACC.
This is because you are the ACC. The ACC is an assembly of congregations and individuals who identify together to make a shared confession of Christ. We sometimes say, ‘The ACC confesses Christ according to the faith of the one holy, catholic and apostolic church, as that faith is described in the Basis of Union'. This confession is not only made in the statements and papers of the National Council and its Commissions. Your personal confession of Christ, and your participation in the collective confession of our assembly, is as important as what happens nationally or at a state level. One very helpful way of participating in the ACC i s to take responsibility for keeping yourself informed so that instead of being the person who asks, "What is the ACC doing?" you are the person who can answer that question when someone else asks it.
Grace and peace to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, in the love of the Father, and in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
