ACC VICTORIA - ABOUT US

Our inaugural meeting was on the 3 March 2007 with 66 attending and 18 apologies. Here we established a State body called “Assembly of Confessing Congregations within the Uniting Church in Australia, Victoria” which may be shortened to “ACC Victoria” for ease of use.

The aims of ACC Victoria for the next year include the following matters:

  1. working to connect ACC congregations and ACC groups, link isolated people with nearby groups,
  2. encourage the formation and establishment of new ACC congregations and groups,
  3. foster relationships of co-operation and partnership with members of migrant-ethnic congregations,
  4. sponsor seminars,
  5. explore links with groups like EA,
  6. support ministry workers and the six national commissions,
  7. develop resources for young people,
  8. speak on issues facing our culture,
  9. and be a prayer fellowship.

ACC Victoria is a not a layer of governance in the ACC but a network of ACC congregations, ACC Groups within single Congregations, and ACC Clusters (drawn from many congregations) who are focussed on acting to fulfil the aims mentioned above.

Our authority derives from the national ACC Network Commission.

The inaugural meeting was not in a position to work out the details of how this may work, and so established a steering committee that would bring to next year’s meetings clearer proposals about how we might work in Victoria.
