Come to Me

30th December 2010

SEEDS FOR HARVESTING 5/46

John 16:37
"All that the Father has given Me shall come to Me;
and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out."

It is always humbling to remind ourselves of
God's involvement in our responding to His call.
"All that the Father has given me."
It is always God who is the initiator.
This thought alone should fill our hearts with joy.

God lovingly pursued us
even though we did not realise it.
He never stopped until ultimately we offered ourselves to Him.

Then we read these wonderful words of Jesus.
There is no question about it.
We don't have to debate it.
"All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me."
We so often forget that
Our coming to Jesus is always
through the love of the Father.
It has been true from time immortal.
Because we say yes to Jesus
then a place is reserved for us in the presence of God.

But even so, we must still make
our personal commitment to Jesus Himself.
"And the one who comes to Me."
Not everyone responds to this call of God.
Too many so-called Christians have said yes to God
but still have not responded to Jesus' invitation.

Having answered the Father, and the Son's call
we then have Jesus' final promise
"I will certainly not cast out."
