God’s Glory Given

26th September 2010

SEEDS FOR HARVESTING 5/37

John 17:22
"The glory You have given me, I have given to them."

John's witness, and joyful proclamation in chapter 1, is,
"We have beheld His glory."
Here in Jesus' great prayer in chapter 17, Jesus gives us
the same glory his Father gave to him.
What does it mean for us to receive Jesus' "glory?"
God did not redeem us
so that we can try saving ourselves.
Here are three reasons, amongst many, why God calls us:
So that we can glorify Him,
so that we can begin to travel the road of discipleship.
so that we can pass on His glory to others.

My friends,
we shall never plumb the depths of this glory,
until we are called to enter into His glory.
The father and son's glory is eternal,
yet is an ever present experience for us.

For some of us the term "I give God all the glory" can sound like self glorification, so we must be careful how we use it.

We cannot dissect God's glory, or quantify it,
but we must experience and express it.
It is not for our vain-glory, or self-satisfaction
but that God's glory can so enriched us
that we can then enrich other lives through it.
We must always remember that this glory is
a gift from Jesus for us.
Jesus says "I have given."
Paul wrote
"We are being transformed into His likeness
with ever-increasing glory,"
