Peace at all Times

22nd April 2013

SEEDS FOR HARVESTING 8/15

2 Thess. 3:16
"May the Lord of peace himself
give you peace at all times and in all places".

Here the Word speaks to us about a condition that we can never
artificially create in our earthly experience.
This is the peace of Jesus, his peace.
In the NT this word means the wholeness and well-being
that only Jesus can bring to the believer.
What a wonderful phrase this is
"the Lord of peace".

The living words of Jesus are
"My peace I give to you".
This is not just a promise yet to be fulfilled.
It was offered to the disciples there and then as it is for us today.
It is his personal gift to each one of us.
It is made available to us "at all times and in all places".
The Amplified Bible adds to these words the following
"under all circumstances and conditions, whatever comes".

Not only is this gift personal, it is also consistent.
There are times when the burden of our humanity
seems too heavy to carry,
yet always, in the twinkling of an eye,
Jesus' peace is available to us.

His peace is always complete in every way.
It is a perfect peace, peace supreme.
He is the "Lord of peace".
We can always, and in every way rely upon it.

But it must be a prayerful peace that quietly seeps in
and permeates our whole being,
as we wait upon the Lord,
to do His work in our hearts and minds.
