Taste and See

27th August 2012

SEEDS FOR HARVESTING 7-31

PSALM 34:8

"Taste and see that God is good". (NLT)

Too often our use of words robs us
of the richness of God's Word.
There is no doubt that "God is good".
We have sung about God's goodness as children
and we actually experience the same as adults.
So why do we have to "taste and see"
to prove that these experiences are real for us?
To taste is a very human activity.
We do not need the prompting of the Holy Spirit
to be able to do this.

Deep down we are sure "that God is good".
The Living Word testifies to us that
"every good and perfect gift comes from God".

Tasting and seeing is necessary for our health,
and it is vital for our spiritual growth.
The Word tells us to walk by the Spirit
then we will not carry out the desires of the flesh.

But there is an even richer harvest for us
to reap from these simple words.
It's all about how close is our walk with God.
It's whether we are seeking and thirsting for God,
as did the psalmist when he cried from his heart
"I thirst for the living God".

Yes, it is true that he always makes himself available to us.
But this thirsting for his guidance creates fertile growth
wherein can grow our God-knowledge.

In the end we can acclaim with great joy that
God is good, he is so good to us.
