Waiting on God

8th April 2013

SEEDS FOR HARVESTING 8/13

John 11:6
"He stayed two days longer in this place."

I am sure that there were many times
during those three years of Jesus' earthly ministry
when he "stayed two days longer" with God
and communed with the Father.

In those "two days" Lazarus was lying dead in the tomb,
and Jesus would have wanted to go to his friends in their need
but there were far greater issues at stake.
Lazarus had to be in the tomb for 4 days
so that there would be no doubt that Jesus
did actually raise him from the dead,
and not just cure his illness.

This is all about resurrection to new life
for His disciples and for us.
It's about us being freed from the fear of death and the grave.
Paul wrote that
"we have been baptised into Christ Jesus...
so we might walk in newness of life".

There are times when we have to "wait two days longer"
before we can move into a new phase of our life
that God has prepared for us,
but we must not spend it in idle chatter or wasting time.

These are times for seeking God's presence
and communion with Him,
searching for the Truth from His Word
and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

That is the way we can live each day
with the joy of the Lord
