Comments on Psalm 119
teaching us about God's Word.
"I have hidden your Word in my heart
that I might not sin against you."
We "hide God's Word."
His Word is one of the most precious gifts
that He shares with us.
Therefore it must be hidden in my heart
because the treasures of my faith are hidden in my heart.
"I long to obey your commandments."
Do we "obey you commandments" because we must,
or because , for us, it has become more valuable than our life for us?
"I will walk in freedom,
for I have devoted myself to your commandments."
Through our love for God grows our devotion for His Word.
In this is our freedom because it is God's gift to us.
Jesus said "You will know the truth,
and the truth will set you free."
"I believe in your commandments;
now teach me good judgment and knowledge."
It's only as we allow God's Word to live in us
that God's judgment and knowledge
become living realties in our hearts.
"I will never forget your commandments,
for you have used them to restore my joy and health."
Have we ever stopped and realised
that it is God's truth that "restores my joy and health."
