Lu Senituli reports on the First Meeting of the ACC Bayside Fellowship
Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ,
The ACC Fellowship Bayside region has begun. It was held at the Bayside UCA congregation chapel, Wondall road on March 3rd at 7.00pm.
We began our fellowship with a welcome in the name of Christ followed by singing together the Doxology (573 AHB) 'Praise God from whom all blessings flow. This was followed with an affirmation of faith-the Nicene Creed and prayer.
Our bible passage for the opening of this fellowship group was:
2 Timothy 3:14 - 4:5
14But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it, 15and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
4In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I solemnly urge you: 2proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching. 3For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires, 4and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths. 5As for you, always be sober, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry.
Lu lead in devotion by paying particular attention to verses 16, 2 and 3.
After the devotion, we had a time of sharing followed by s brief presentation by Lu on the reason for the formation of the ACC.
The most significant time segment was spent in prayer for the fellowship groups and particularly for the Church of Christ to confess Jesus Christ as Lord and to stand firm in His Truth at whatever the cost.
The fellowship concluded in high spirit as we all had discerned the presence of Christ in our midst and as we also received great news that more new people will be attending the next gathering.
The next fellowship will be held on Tuesday 13th of April. The venue is yet to be decided because a member had offered his home to host the fellowship. However, I'm still keen at keeping it at the church but we will wait and see what develops.
A Developing Presence - 2009 and beyond
The Queensland state committee's goal is to promote the confessional cause with as much good will as it can muster and quietly and steadily set the record straight. ACC Queensland has distributed over 1000 extra copies of ACC catalyst to interested parties. Members have led encouraging deputations and Queensland ACC are continuing to develop some ACC groups in local regions such as the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Darling Downs and Gold coast/Northern Rivers NSW, as well as establishing a group in North Queensland. Links are being made with like minded confession movements in other churches and solid biblical and theological educational opportunities are being promoted through visiting speakers. Please pray for the UCA leadership in Queensland that it will promote the mission of Christ and reflect and lead the vast majority of the synod in the faith most share.
